Virtual-Reader for Actors
Instructions under player box

This Virtual-Reader is a must have tool for actors. We as actors struggle so many times try to find a reader for our auditions. This web app will help you solve this problem. Its very easy to use, all you need is a clean dialogue text and paste it into the box.
1) HOW TO FORMAT IT:
The part before the colon (:) is the character’s name.
The part after the colon is what that character says.
If you choose ROMEO as the AI Role (AIRole = your READER), the computer will read Romeo’s line aloud. When it’s time for Juliet to speak (YOU) a green “YOUR LINE” button will appear (or it will listen if you’re in voice mode). After you finish Juliet’s line and click the button (or speak), the computer reads the next Romeo line.

2) How to paste your own script
Write or copy your dialogue in a text editor (simple text) so it’s clean and simple. Each line should follow this pattern:
Character name, then a colon, then the line of dialogue.
Example: Romeo: Once upon a time, there was a brave knight.
Make sure each character’s line is on its own paragraph.
Leave out stage directions, director’s notes, quotations, or descriptions. Use only the spoken words with normal punctuation like commas and periods.
Once you have formated your script text, copy it, and then paste it into the big box labeled “SCRIPT into the big box that contains Romeo and Juliet lines by default to serve as a sample.

Once your script is pasted and you’ve chosen the AI Role and mode (Manual or Speech), click Start Rehearsal. The AI (Computer/reader) will speak its lines and wait for you to deliver yours. That's it!
Manual mode: You will need to tap the space bar of your keyboard to cue the computer (reader) to talk. This option is the best since you dont have to rush or be alert/worry about timing, you create the time when you are ready.
Speech mode: The computer will activate voice recognition and it will talk back when it hears a silence. Therfore the time slider to adjust the timing. Once you tweak it and play with it few times youl find the rythm and when you do, oh man, you will love the hands free option. I use this option alot to rehearse and memorize my lines so quick!
Have fun with it. I created this app to help us succeed. Once you master it you will never worry about having a reader again. Does not replace a live person reader but this is the plan B. Good luck and nail the role!
